Volunteers Assigned to Charities!
Posted by Toi B Wright at 1/8/2009 6:45 PM
I have assigned the charities for the 2009 WE ARE MICROSOFT – Charity Challenge
Weekend. You can view your charity and a list of your other team members by logging
into your account.
If you click the link with the name of your charity on it, you can view that charity’s
application. I am working on setting up Team Foundation Server (TFS) accounts for
each person on your team. Once the accounts are setup, I will send you instructions
on how to access your account. Also, in most cases, you will find more detailed
requirements documents on TFS.
There is one rule this year – No Beta Software.
We are supporting a number of development options this year through our partnerships
with Verio, Telligent and Telerik. Verio is donating web hosting to each charity.
Verio is running .NET Framework 3.5, SQL Server 2005 and supports the ASP.Net MVC
Framework. A technician from Verio will be on-site all three days. He will customize
the free website to meet your requirements. If you choose to use Telligent Graffiti
CMS or Telerik SiteFinity CMS, he will install those applications for you. Both
Telligent and Telerik will have people at the event to help you with their products
and they will provide training to the charities.
Before the event I would like you to do the following things:
- Introduce yourselves to each other and to your charity.
- Come up with a really cool team name.
- Read the design requirements on Team Foundation Server
- Decide, as a team, whether or not you are going to use Telligent Graffiti CMS or
Telerik SiteFinity CMS. (you do not need to use either of these products)
- Decide, as a team, if there are any third party tools that you want to use. If you
decide that you need a third party tool that is not free, please let me know so
that I can secure the appropriate license for the charity.
Regards,
Toi Wright, Organizer, We Are Microsoft - Charity Challenge Weekend
